Old School Thursday | Hip Hop

Got an e-mail this morning from the NC Symphony letting me know that
Boyz II Men will be appearing with them next weekend. We can’t make it, but it’s put me in the old school mood. Her are some of my favorites:

  1. Candy Girl by New Edition
  2. Jam On It by Newcleus
  3. Rappers Delight by the Sugar Hill Gang
(you should hear my husband rap this … full of the awesome!)
  4. Double Dutch Bus by Frankie Smith
  5. Pump Up the Volume by M.A.R.S.
  6. Take Your Time (Do it Right) by S.O.S. Band
  7. Supersonic by JJ Fad
  8. Early in the Morning by The Gap Band
  9. Push It by Salt-n-Pepa
(we’ve been listening to this in my Boot Camp, which makes it much more fun while the exercise is kicking my ass)
  10. Planet Rock by Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force
  11. Apache (Jump on It) by the Sugar Hill Gang
  12. Fantastic Voyage by Coolio
  13. Humpty Dance by Digital Underground
(saw them in concert once, and had to take my friend to the hospital after a stage dive gone bad)
  14. Takes Two by Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock
  15. Good Vibrations by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
(now, what kind of romance author would I be if I didn’t include MM in his little manties)

Got any favorite hip songs from back in the day?

  1. They are some good one in that list… (I saw the B2B thingy & mind went directly into slow jam mode with R&B, where you bump and grind with your (or a) partner…)

    Here is some for ya:

    Don’t Walk Away by Jade
    Hey Mr DJ by Zhane
Mixing it with bit of Jodeci & R Kelly
