Romance Basics

According to Romance Writers of America, all romances have a central love story and an emotionally satisfying ending. And in the daily grind of life that has the potential to chew you up and spit you out without a moment’s pause, isn’t it nice to know the story you’re reading will have a satisfying ending? It’s certainly rewarding to know that no matter how extreme or sappy or totally funky my imagination carries me into a plot, I will always be able to end it well. The girl always gets the guy. The sun always rises tomorrow. Too much chocolate won’t make you unappealing.

So look for that grand romantic gesture in everything you do. When your husband opens the door for you, or your son picks the last blooming Camelia of the season … when the older couple in front of you at the grocery store is holding hands, or your wife lets you win at Scrabble. It’s there, that romance. You just have to open your mind to all the possibilities.
