The Benefits of Smiling

It’s gorgeous today in North Carolina, and I’m smiling. The sun’s shining, the sky is crisp and clear and bright blue, and the temperature holds the promise of spring … what’s there to be gloom about?

But I’m making the folks at work nervous with my chipper smile and upbeat attitude (and that makes me smile even bigger). There’s truth to the old adage, “smile–it makes people wonder what you’ve been up to.” And if nothing else, I love to make people around me think.

So I did a little research and found a great article from, Health Benefits from Smiling: New research has found a strong connection between smiling and your general health and well-being.

  • Smiling can lift your spirits
  • People who smile more often have a more positive effect on their environment, and are better received by others
  • Smiling may help to reduce symptoms associated with anxiety

So brighten up your life with a smile!
