I’m working on a post about women and erotica … so I hope you’ll help me gather a little data for the conversation. If you’ve got time, I hope you’ll respond to at least a couple of the questions below.
- Do you read erotica?
- Do you seeĀ it differently than romance? How?
- Do you think men and women read erotica for different reasons?
- Why would you choose erotica over romance, or other fiction genres?
- Who’s your favorite erotica author?
- In your erotica, do you prefer a couple? menage or more? A man and a woman? Two or more men? Two or more women?
- Do you prefer a deep emotional connection between the characters, or just a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am encounter?
- Do you liken erotica to pornography? To fantasy?
- Do you think that erotica is a good way to fantasize? Do you think it’s healthy? Why?
- Do you read Megan Hart?
- What’s your favorite M.H. title?
I figured this was a little more productive than googling “women’s erotica literature,” which made ME blush … and that’s pretty unusual. Thanks for your feedback!
PS. Cheeky and fun are okay responses; please avoid anything really crass and graphic since I don’t have any type of age filters on my blog.
1. Yes! I love erotica!
2. Kinda..most erotica still has the romance …it’s just that the sex scenes are well…more real…to me anyway …in romance its all about the romance and feeling while erotica is more about the sex…which is for people who need a little bit more
3. Definitely
4. Sometimes your in the mood for something sexier and hotter
5.
5. Leanore Elliott!
6. Really depends on the mood…I’ve read a few that made me blush and wonder if that’s possible.
7.depends on the story…but I like romantic elements
8. No…well most of it no…more fantasy
9. Yes…yes..some peoples needs are different
0. Haven’t read her
Thanks for the info, Nikki! This is great. I, myself, prefer to have good sex along with a great story rather than a little story along with great sex, know what I mean? Interesting point on number two …
1. Yes
2. No–just hotter ;P
3. Erotica–no, but I think men are more likely to read porn (no emotions/feelings)
4. It just depends on how much heat I want at that particular time
5. Don’t have “A” favorite, have many that I love: Eve Langlais, Cherise Sinclair, many, many others
6. I like it all! m/f, m/m, m/f/m, m/m/f, 1 female, 3 or more men, etc (I just haven’t tried f/f yet–not my fantasy I guess)
7. I like connection, either before or developing after they become involved
8. To me, porn has no emotion/feelings involved, it is just sex. Erotica involves feelings, have developed characters and plots
9. Yes, it is the same as other books, just hotter
10. I have read a Megan Hart and plan on reading others, just have so many to read, lol
11. The only one I have read so far is TEMPTED
June, thanks so much for the feedback! This’ll be great info for my post.
